Pierce County healthcare providers reported 14 cases of congenital syphilis in 2021—the most in any Washington county—after reporting just a handful of cases over the last decade. So far in 2022, Pierce County has seen 11 probable cases, including 1 stillbirth preliminarily attributed to congenital syphilis. Washington State Department of Health (DOH) reported an historic high of 51 congenital syphilis cases in Washington in 2021. Read the full Health Advisory here.
