PCMS Executive Director Bruce Ehrle has been named Vice Chair of the Health Care Working Group for the South Sound Military and Communities Partnership, dedicated to collaboration on health care issues between the civilian and armed forces communities of the region by bringing together leaders from the military, VA, and civilian organizations and agencies.

Involvement by the Pierce County Medical Society in this worthwhile endeavor permits the local physician and PA membership of the Society to support our military neighbors especially those attached to Joint Base Lewis McChord and Camp Murray.  Coordination of matters of importance to civilian and military physicians and seeking the best outcomes of health care for military personnel and their families living in our community are central to the working group’s activities.  These priorities are directly connected to the Society’s goals relating to community engagement and efforts to improve population health in Pierce County.  This involvement by the Society will also permit PCMS to give something back to those who risk so much on our behalf and who contribute so much to our nation.

Bruce brings many years of health care policy and political experience at both the local and national level to the working group.  He combines this with nearly 20 years of close association with the military services dating back to his time on Congressional staff in Washington, DC and continuing to the present with ongoing relationships and friendships with those in the armed forces at all ranks and in all branches of service as well as veterans of military duty.  Those relationships and close friendships permit Bruce to bring the perspective of active duty military personnel and veterans to the deliberations of the working group along with the perspectives of physicians, PAs, and those engaged with transformation of the health care system in the United States.

The Pierce County Medical Society is proud to be involved with this initiative to support all those in our local military community as PCMS Executive Director Bruce Ehrle takes on the role of Vice Chair of the Health Care Working Group at the South Sound Military and Communities Partnership.
