Pierce County Medical Society Executive Director Bruce Ehrle has been named a member of Representative Dave Reichert's Healthcare Advisory Committee. Rep. Reichert is the Member of Congress for Washington's 8th District which includes part of Pierce County. He is a senior majority member of the US House Ways and Means Committee that oversees health policy in our nation. PCMS representation on the advisory committee will permit the Society to have input and provide advocacy on a wide variety of pressing topics facing physicians including adoption of meaningful use of Health Information Technology, development of quality metrics as part of national payment reform away from fee-for-service toward payment for value and quality, providing for a robust physician profession that is a valued partner in evolution of patient care, flexibility with and reduction of regulatory burdens, and implementation of ICD-10, among many other topic areas. Participation in the HAC will also allow PCMS to receive additional information about pending initiatives on health policy at the federal level. This is just one example of PCMS communication with Rep. Reichert as well as other members of the Washington Congressional Delegation, CMS, and members of the state legislature to strongly advocate for the interests of PCMS Members.
