The Pierce County Medical Society exists to:
• promote the art and science of medicine
• promote the care and well-being of patients
• protect and improve the health of the public
• serve and provide leadership for members
The working mission of the Society, as determined by the Board of
Trustees at their 2002 Board Retreat: to be a focal point for physicians
to become interconnected for the purpose of optimizing community
medical care while promoting healthy medical practices
OUR WORK
PCMS and our for-profit and non-profit subsidiaries work on your
behalf by:
• providing services and benefits to members that are useful in their
profession
•
promoting and defending the physician’s freedom to practice
medicine that will best serve the needs of the patient as well as
the physician
• enhancing goodwill, cooperation and unity among physicians
•
advocating for the public’s best interest in matters of health
and medicine
• providing forums for the exchange of opinions and experience to enhance
the fellowship and solidarity of the physician community
• maintaining a dedication to continuing medical education for the
medical community

Pierce County Medical Society members. Our staff is available for
your assistance. Feel free to contact any member of our Board of
Trustees or our Executive Director with questions or comments regarding
any of our organizations or their activities.
We look forward to your participation and involvement in our Society,
in our subsidiary organizations and in our community.
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
Membership categories include:
Active
Honorary
Senior
Associate
Student
Assistant
To be an active member of PCMS, you must:
• possess the degree of MD or DO from an approved teaching institution
• be licensed by the State of Washington
• maintain a practice or reside in Pierce County or a neighboring county
• maintain membership in the Washington State Medical Association or
Washington Osteopathic Medical Association
To be an Assistant Member, you must:
• be registered as a PA with the State of Washington
• be employed by a physician member of PCMS
Annual dues are:
• PCMS $275 (active member), $75 (PA)
• WSMA $485
• WOMA $150 year 1, $250 year 2, $600 year 3+
No dues are required when submitting your application. You will be
sent a dues statement at a later date.
Application for Pierce County Medical Society membership is automatic
membership to Washington State Medical Association -
no additional application is required.
