Welcome to PCMS
The Pierce County Medical Society (PCMS) is a professional membership
organization of Physicians and Physician Assistants practicing
in Pierce County, Washington.
Formed in 1888, the Society has grown to a membership of over 700 practicing
physicians and physician assistants and 250 retired members.
The Mission of
the Pierce County Medical Society is to:
• promote
the art and science of medicine
• promote the care and well being of patients
• protect and improve the health of the public
• serve and provide leadership for the membership of the Society
In 2003, the Board of Trustees expanded the mission to include:
• being a focal point for physicians to become interconnected for the
purpose of optimizing community medical care while promoting healthy
medical practices
PCMS owns and operates a for-profit subsidiary, PCMS Membership Benefits,
Inc. (MBI). Incorporated in 1978, MBI provides members a variety
of services including staff placement, personnel assistance, publication
services including a monthly Bulletin, annual membership directory
and annual pharmacy directory.
MBI owns the building at 223 Tacoma Avenue South that is headquarters
for the Pierce County Medical Society and the College of Medical
Education. Tenants include Pierce County Dental Society, Pierce County
Nurses Association, American Lung Association of Washington and ADD
Resources.
